This replica Lucas 477/1 light unit was a later version and I believe was fitted to Norton road bikes in late 1930's - 1940's, taking over from the MT110 which we also sell (Item0403).  It is dual filament with stop light facility, which on modern roads I think is essential.

Although made by a proprietary supplier (and probably made in China), I have to say I was really impressed by the quality of this unit, it looks very nice. 

Lovely reproduction of the distinctive Miller 'STOP' rear light unit, as fitted to Vincent road bikes as well as a few others of the immediate Post-War period. So nice you might want to consider fitting it to your Norton! (I have one fitted to my Vincent Comet)

This is a small single filament 6 volt bulb, and is of the type found in some smaller or early type main headlight pilot bulbs.  It is also of the type commonly found fitted to Smiths Speedometer and road bikes fitted with rev clocks.

The diameter of the metal part of the buib (i.e. where it fits into the headlight/speedo bayonet) is - 9.1mm, and the bayonet prongs are parallel.

As far as I can tell, these small bulbs are identical to the Lucas 2W Instrument bulb (Item1163), other than these are of a slightly higher wattage - 4 Watts instead of 2 Watts.  The Lucas description indicates that these are pilot bulbs - rather than the 1163 Item (which are described as Instrument Bulbs) - but I would expect they could be interchanged if you wished to use a stronger or weaker bulb.

Genuine Lucas 6v 1.2 Watt Warning Light/Idiot Light type bulb: Type BA7S LLB282, from the Lucas Classic range.  I would expect that it would be more common to find these fitted to the instrument (idiot) lights fitted to classic cars of the 1950's/70's, as well as later British motorcycles - also having ignition, main beam and indicator lights - but as we are stocking most 6v bulbs, thought it worth including these as well.

This is a small single filament 6 volt bulb, and is of the type found in many Smiths instrument panels fitted with small warning/idiot lights (cars and motorocycles).  The diameter of the metal part of the buib (i.e. where it fits into the headlight/speedo bayonet) is - 6.8mm, and the bayonet prongs are pressed and extend about 3.7mm along the length of the steel shoulder - intended for the special Warning light holders (which I would expect to have been fitted mainly to Lucas warning/idiot lights on classic cars and later (i.e. late 1950's - 1970's British bikes).  See close up photo for details

This item is a for a small Pilot Bulb holder, with a rubber surround.  These are from a small batch of 'New Old Stock' holders I have had for many years.

Not sure what they were originally to fit - but the bulb surround is rubber and looks like it may have originally been made to be pressed into an old style headlight reflector pilot bulb hole, idiot light binnacle or similar (you can see a small recess in the rubber surround, where it may have pushed into), but may also be possible to push the rubber into a similar recess on an old motorcycle panel or speedo bulb receptor.  The outer diameter of the rubber surround is - 17mm, with the rubber recess being approx 13mm diameter - i.e. it could be pressed into a hole of approximately 13mm or slightly larger - such as an old headlamp reflector as a pilot bulb holder.

I have had these for many years, but thought worth listing at the same time as listing the Lucas pilot bulbs shown here - as not always easy to find holders.

As these are 'old stock', the connectors look slighty tarnished - I would advise rubbing them and the central bulb connector with a bit of emery paper before fitting the builb.

However, these have the correct bayonet fitting for the Pilot/Instrument bulbs shown in this section - i.e. to fit Items 1161/1162 (but not Item 1163 which has a different type of bayonet)

Period reprduction Red Reflector, in nice mount. Typical of the type fitted to the bottom of mudguards or rear number plate.

I like these - they look like the original type from the 1950's - not a cheap plastic reproduction, I have one of them fitted to my Royal Enfield Constellation
