Many Norton singles, as well as other British motorcycle makes, had some form of bracket or lug on the top frame tube for affixing the front mount of saddles.  Unfortunately many of the reproduction saddles made over the last 20 years do not have the right type of front mounting bracket, or as supplied it is too short or flimsy.

These brackets are lasercut from strong 4mm mild steel and have two sets of vertical holes (for mounting bolt on motorcycle frame lug) and two sets of horisontal holes in them - so they can either be riveted to a seat frame (as many seat brackets originally were) or bolted.  I have used them myself, and have even welded them to the seat frame, for added strength.   

We normally spray a drop of Duck Oil in the bag when packing, to protect from rust.
