This type is in an attractive Grey colour - which was a period colour for these ties and makes a nice change from Black - it shows the John Bull writing and serial number very clearly

These interesting little hard rubber discs are formed in a curved shape so they can be used on smaller frame tubes and handlebars for either protecting paintwork from rubbing or protecting wiring/cables. Although they are solid, on the inside there are two indents so they can be easily drilled for threading through a plastic tie down clip. Sold in packs of 3

This endcap is from the genuine Lucas authentic classic range - and is the screw on aluminium end cap (with cutout pickup), as fitted to original Lucas K2FC (and FR) and some single cylinder competition magneto's. 

It is listed as original part number - 459205

The label on the packaging says it is for a Lucas K2FC competition magneto - but as many will know, the same style of competition type end cover were originally fitted to a number of Lucas competition magnetos - including Lucas NR1 and Wader single cylinder magneto's, which occasionally get fitted to Norton single cylinder - particularly trials and race bikes.

As you would expect from the genuine Lucas range - these end caps look beautifully manufactured and are constructed as the original items were - being the competition version having an alloy knurled outer cap - but also a competition type alloy breather centre assemblyl.  I can see that the cap is assembled with a breathable space and includes a central wire pickup assembly - allowing for a magneto cutout button on the handlebar - and also includes a graphite pickup and spring in a seperate bag - That I assume fits into the central hole on the inner cap assembly.  This mechanism allows the graphite pickup to gently press against the central points plate bolt of your magneto - and when the wire is attached to a cutout button on the handlebar, will allow the magneto to 'Earth' and provide an engine cutout when the button is pressed.

Also on the inner cap is a rubber O - ring seal, to protect against excessive condensation.

As an FYI - although this endcap is listed as being for the Lucas K2FC competition magneto - but should also fit other Lucas Competition magnetos having the same 'screw-on' threaded points end casting - i.e. the Lucas KVFTT (as fitted to racing Vincent twins - see our RacingVincent website to see what a genuine KVFTT 'dimpled' cover looks like, fitted to my own Black Lightning Rep - but I know many of those magnetos ended up being fitted with these later type endcaps), and Lucas NR1 and Wader magneto's.  Email us on sales@racingvincent.co.uk if you wish to check dimesnions before ordering.  In the photographs I have shown a picture of a rare road racing NR1 Lucas magneto - which is fitted with the older style (and now very hard to find, or replicate) '6 breather' hole competition end cap which preceded the style listed here.  If you have an earlier competition magneto - but are missing the rare original cover - these provide a suitable alternative.

Overall, these caps look beautifully made, and being made by Lucas themselves, are a welcome addition to the Classic range - as they were previously a rare item to find.  Note we also sell the non-comp versions (Item 1190, as well as many other Lucas magneto items - including some original type lablels and competition type screws/bolts

As an FYI - although this endcap is listed as being for the Lucas K2F (standard roadgoing twin cylinder magneto - as fitted to many parrallel twins, including Dominators) - In period this type of cap would also be fitted to numerous single cylinder magneto's having the same 'screw-on' threaded points end casting - i.e. the Lucas  Lucas NR1 and Wader magneto's or similar. This black centred version was more commonly fitted to non-competition magneto's - but the fitting is the same as the genuine competition type version that we also sell (Item 1189) - so if you prefer, this type could be fitted to a comp magneto as well, I have seen many restored comp mags with this type of cap fitted, and they are slightly cheaper.

This listing is for a pair of hex (with screwdriver slot as well) Pickup Screws to fit Lucas M01 Magdyno magnetos (as commonly fitted to many Norton road going single cylinder models - these screws being cadmium plated steel from the genuine Lucas authentic classic range.  

Being from Lucas, you can have confidence they will replicate the shape and dimensions of original screws.

Note that we also sell a similar screw to fit Lucas K2F magnetos (Item 1192) - but these screws are slightly longer than that screw having a screw 'shaft' length of approximately 16mm.

(Please note as well that some early Norton Lucas Magdyno units from the 1930's may have clips holding the bakelite pickups, rather than these hex screws - so you may want to check this before ordering)
