Manufactured from seamless and ground polished stainless steel polished tubing - these SOHC bevel tubes are manufactured with exactly the same pressed flange as the original items.

These items are the standard length for 600cc SOHC (and Longstroke DOHC engines) - and the open tubing on one end allows for slight flexibility of length, useful if fitting compression plates - the flanged end is fitted into the top bevel housing in the cambox.  The 600cc (or 596cc) version of the SOHC is quite rare - but this length tube is also useful if you think your 500cc engine may be modified or built from parts, and you may need a longer tube than standard - that you can then cut to your own length

Maunfacturing Background:

Original tubes were normally chrome plated steel - but most get dented and the chrome flakes and pits - re-chroming normally costs a lot and often does not get the pitting out. 

These stainless steel items - particularly when fitted in unison with our own CNC machined Bevel Tube Nuts totally transform the look of the SOHC engine, and look really nice.  They are also durable and do not rust. 

The tube is special seamless/ground polished stainless (and very expensive!), and we then press the flange using purpose made hardened press tools to form the correct flange profile.  Because of the toughtness of the thin wall tubing - this process is more complex than you would expect, requiring rough pressing first, then final profile flanging - to avoid the lip splitting. 

Once the tube flanges are pressed, the tubes then go back on a lathe (with special jigs to avoid damaging the tubes), where we final linish/polish the stainless, to ensure no residue marks from the flange pressing process  remain. 

Therefore -- apologies these tubes are not cheap, but hopefully you will understand from the complexity of the above process why this is - they are very labour intensive to manufacture.

Latest Update 2022: We have just manufactutred a new batch of these tubes - and the cost of the special seamless tubing (which is only availabe from one supplier in the UK) has - like all non-ferrous steel material,) risen by a large amount since last made - but they are now at least back in stock!

These are the distinctive press steel bevel cups, which are now very difficult to find and always seem to be missing when building up a new engine. I have had these specially made and as always, original Norton items were used as patterns and these are identical in dimensions. They are very nicely made and supplied cadmium plated - although that should not be necessary if your oil supply is working properly! These items fit between the bevel ball bearing and the large gland nut. They ensure the bearing does not go 'walkies' on its own

SOHC Crankcase Bevel Platform - Oil Return Blanking Plug/Washer (SS)

Distinctive small hex blanking plug/bolt that locates on the left side on the crankcase lower bevel platfom.  CNC maufactured in stainless steel and includes red fibre washer.

This item is an identical copy of the original Norton blanking plug used on Cammy International and M30/Manx variants.  Thread is 1/4 BSC, but it has a deeper 'reduced head' hex than commercially available bolts, as well as the distinctive curved head used on many Norton bolts and a slot for a screwdriver which the original bolt had.  Its purpose is to blank off the vertical oil gallery that returns oil to the feed union if it bypasses the pressure release ball located behind the inner timing case.

We manufacture this ourself from stainless steel round bar, then mill the hex/slot to the correct Norton size, hence why they are not cheap!

Final point - we also include the correct (high quality) red fibre washer - of the same type used on our cheesehead screws.  Although these blanking plugs are relatively small - they are located on a prominent position of the bevel platform, and original (steel/plated) blanking plugs often look corroded or chewed - therefore this high quality stainless item adds a much better finish!
