Driven Defender and Booster - Lead Replacement Plus Octane Booster - 295ml Bottle.  If your Norton (or any other classic motorcycle) has not been fitted with new 'unleaded' type valve seats, then using modern unleaded petrol will lead to excessive wear of your valve seats.

Driven is a well known specialist American oil company, producting oils and additives for the motor racing industry - and one of their products is this fuel additive that protects valve seats on older style 'leaded' engines, as well as increasing octane  - just add a small measure of this liquid to your fuel tank each time you fill up and you will effectively be changing your 'unleaded' specification to 'leaded type - and therefore will protect valve seats.  

This 295ml/10 Fl oz bottle will treat up to 25 gallons (not litres . . . remember it is a US company!) of fuel.  The bottle has graduations along its side, along with a clear plastic area so you can easily see how much additive you  are adding on each fill up. 

I have recently stocked this item because other UK additives have been getting harder to find - and it is supplied by my main racing fuel distributor, so know they can be trusted.  I am using this additive myself now in my roadgoing Vincent and will report back results later in 2018

Castrol offer Valvemaster Plus to combat this problem - just add a small measure of this liquid to your fuel tank each time you fill up and you will effectively be changing your 'unleaded' specification to 'leaded type - and therefore will protect valve seats.  

Note: Castrol make 2 versions of this lead replacement additive, a standard version, and then this version which also has an Octane booster included.  I always add this version to my British motorcycles - as I want to provide as high as an octane rating as possible to the high performance engines we are running (SOHC Nortons, sports twins etc), to reduce the possibility of pinking.  Therefore I use this in all my classic bikes.

However, should any more encouragement be needed - it is also endorsed by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs.

This 250ml bottle will treat 250 litres of fuel (1ml to each litre of fuel).  The reason I like this Castrol lead replacement offering over other makes is that the bottle includes a clever measuring device at the top - just squeeze the lower part of the container until the correct quantity of the additive fills the top measuring holder, which is graduated with the different quantities of fuel you are filling your tank with - simple!

Castrol Molybdenum (Moly) Grease - 400g Cartridge Tube.  This Moly grease from top quality manufacturer is an excellent heavy duty grease intended primarily for sliding, reciprocating movement like CV joints.  I always keep a tub of this on the workbench and amongst other things use it on most threads when assembling restoration projects 

I have used Moly grease for restoration work ever since I can remember - and even remember my father also using it in the 1960's - and being Castrol you know you can trust this will be good quality.

Castrol now supply grease in these cartridge tubes, which I believe can be placed in grease guns similar to the silicone sealent guns . . . but personally I prefer to just squeeze a quantity out into a small tub or two  .. . where I can keep then keep the tub next to my current restoration project

Castrol Moly Grease is a multipurpose grease fortified with molybdenum.

Ideal for swivel and shackle lubrication, it also shows excellent performance in the lubrication of heavily loaded slow/medium speed bearings of all types and is particularly useful in preventing bearing damage caused by excessive vibration or shock loading. When exposed to extreme operating conditions, Castrol Moly Grease helps prevent the depletion of normal grease lubrication by a residual coating of the metal surface with molybdenum disulphide to give 'dry' or 'solid' lubrication. Castrol Moly Grease also has an application in sliding motions where the prevention of scuffing is desirable and may be used in dry or moist conditions.

 It is not recommended for use in small, high speed ball and roller bearings.

I have always been an advocate of the Castrol brand, and have had a tub of this type of grease in my workshop ever since I started building my own bikes in the late 1970's. 

Castrol now supply this grease in a cartridge tube - where it can be used with a grease gun, although I still prefer to use it manually - and often push a quantity of it out into small tubs I can keep them handy near my project restoration bikes

This is still considered one of the best solutions possible for high performance engines, partly because of its reluctance to break down under high temperatures/pressures. It is still considered by many the best choice for classic racing engines - particularly those employing mainly roller/ball bearings like our Norton camshaft engines - I use Castor oil in all my Norton engines, and believe Stu Rogers does likewise. I can also supply Rock Oil Castor oil - this is the preferred castor oil of the modern speedway riders. This castor oil is very high quality and is used by many of the modern speedway riders.  It is of the same SAE (SAE 40) as Castrol R.  While Castrol R gives a very distinctive smell, but is renowned for leaving a yellowish residue, that goes hard with time - I have found that Rock Oil runs slightly cleaner, but gives a less distinctive smell.

- 100% Yellow Carnouba paste wax polish, very high quality and easy to apply - Simply apply to painted areas with suitable cloth or applicator, leave for a few minutes then buff off to leave a beautiful long lasting shine.

26/10/15: Sorry folks . . . now out of stock and as we have had very little demand in the last two years, I am not going to restock unless anyone emails me asking for it.  However, what I would say is - if you have never tried Carnouba wax  . . . you ought to, it is fantastic stuff! - for a far more expensive UK equivelent - look at Zymol products
