This spring is the return spring fitted to the rear brake arm on pressed steel brake plates (almost universally fitted on Nortons from the 1930's to the 1960's.

As with the springs above, a good quality original was used as a pattern.

We also sell this spring in chrome plated form - Item 0388, but if you wish to just paint the spring or get it dull nickel plated, then this listing offers the spring in bare metal form.

Note: This particular spring has a slight kink on the end that fits on the brake arm - as most brake arms had a similar outward kink.  However, on some models the brake arm did not have a kink, and on this unplated version of the spring it is possible to carefully tweak the kinked part of the spring so it will fit the straight type brake arm

An original Norton spring was used as the pattern for this spring, and as per the original - This particular spring has a slight kink on the end that fits around the brake arm - which on most models also had a similar kink - see photos attached. 

Note: we also sell this spring in unplated form - Item 0387, in case you wish to paint or dull nickel plate the spring, instead of this chromed version.  Some Norton models were also fitted with a brake arm which had a less pronounced kink (or no kink at all) - and it is possible to carefully bend and straighten the spring where it kinks to fit this type of arm - the unplated version being easier to do this

We have these lasercut and then dull nickel plated washers with wide face for spreading load on Norton rear wheel spindles. These were originally fitted to Norton single rear wheels but are nearly always missing when restoring a bike

Like most special Norton fastenings they are not commercially available in the original size - hence why we had them made.

As you can see from the photos, they are approx 1.9mm thick and help spread the load on tightening the rear wheel - original washers often get 'belled' from frequently doing this.

These 1/4" x 0.750" stainless steel bolts (supplied with nut and washers) have a head reduced to the absolute minimum and slight 5/16" shoulder on the shaft, which allows a 5/16" washer to be fitted - which provides a wider surface area than if a 1/4" washer was used - which is better for use with flattened mudguard stays and when fitting racing number plates. The heads have been reduced to their very minimum, making them very unobtrusive, are slightly chamfered and have a highly polished finish. These are a batch I had specially made - for use on attaching racing type mudguards and also securing racing number plates - they add a nice touch if you like 'minimalist' bolts on sports and racing bikes, (but as they have minimum head on them - I do not recommend they are used on any area where you need to constantly remove them, the minimalist hex flats will soon get damaged). These are bar machined and lovely quality, they come supplied with 5/16" stainless steel washer for the head side and 1/4" washer on the other end and stainless nut, but because of this are not cheap. Classic 'Halycon' Style Tax Disc Holder, this model being in Stainless Steel so it will not tarnish or rust.  

Although it is no longer a legal requirement to fit tax disc's, all historic bikes would have originally been fitted with them - so in my view, no restoration would be complete without fitting a tax disc holder - and I use this type on some of my bikes.

Update Jan 2016:  To go with these tax disc holders, I will soon be able to offer facsimile historic Tax Discs which will be tailored to include your own bike details.  I am hoping eventually to have these available for all years from the 1930's - to 1970's.  For the moment, I am able to offer 1961,1962,1972 - see photograph 3 for an example using one of my own bike details.  Please email for details if you require a facsimile tax disc 

Front Number plate, painted with a black finish.

This number plate has a sporty rake on on one side (which would be facing the rear of the bike.  However - if you prefer the symetric shape that was adoped on some bikes (i.e. the Vincent used a symetric front number plate commonly), then it is a simple job to copy the shape of the other end onto a cardboard template and then use this as a template to help cut away the 'rake' part on the other end, leaving a symetric style plate.  I have done this with one of these plates when fitting one to my Vincent Comet restoration

These are the girder fork 'bump stops' sometimes fitted to both Norton and Velocette motorcycles pre-war, including both Manx's and KTT's.

This type differ from the standard Norton type (our item 0218) - as they had a slight lip at the bottom - and were more commonly fitted on Pre-War racing Velocette models - but actually some of the Norton castings also had provision for a lip, like these - so check your castings before ordcering - although both should fit once the two casting halves are tightened.

1 BA x 7/8" CNC bar turned Stainless Steel Cheesehead Screws - per pair. Most common size for handlebar fittings and other smaller fittings such as electrical.

These cheesehead screws are CNC machined by ourselves in-house, and have the correct curved cheesehead as was seen fitted to many levers and controls on British bikes.  They are stainless steel and if we say so ourselves are very nice quality - not the normal mass produced screws.  Also, as you may have found for yourself - 1 BA screws in stainless steel seem almost unobtainable commercially in recent times.

They add the finishing touch to your latest restoration, or just spruce up your unrestored bike - as it is very common to see the screws on older bikes chewed and the screwdriver slot unusable (see the 4th photograph in this listing - an original rusty screw replaced by one of our nice new ones, that wont rust!).  The slots on these screws are just the right depth and allow a bit more purchase than cheap modern 1BA screws.

Please Note:  I have seen British bike levers/controls fitted with different screw threads sizes over the years - most commonly 1BA (e.g. our competition levers are fitted with 1 BA screws) and we sell both.  I think 2BA screws are more commonly found on electrical switch's.  This listing is for 1BA screws, where the outside diameter of the thread is 0.209"/5.30mm.  If you do not have an original screw for your controls and are not sure which to order  - then a 1BA thread will allow a No18/0.168"/4.28mm drill to just pass through it
