This lockring is used on all Norton gearbox's to stop the sprocket nut coming loose and is essential. This type is flat and was normally fitted to later Norton laydown and AMC gearboxs from the mid 1950's.

As can be seen, this start shaped lock washer can fitted in the later Norton shallow recess gearbox sprocket, where a small slotted screw is then used to retain the lockring to the sprocket.  This is essential with Norton gearboxs - as the main sprocket nut has a left hand thread - one of these is shown fitted into the lockring in the photo (and we sell these LH nuts as well - Item 0801.

We also sell a similar lockring - Item 0271, which has the ear for the screw tweaked upwards, making it easier to fit on the earlier deep recessed gearbox sprockets, but both can have the 'ear' easily tweaked by retaining the main part of the washer in a vice, and tapping the ear either way with a hammer.

This item is lasercut from an original pattern by ourselves
